Wild Ones!

On February 26th our sweet Max and Mia turned 1!! I don't even know how that is even possible. I'm going to be brutally honest - the first 365 days were seriously probably the hardest year of our lives. Twins are no joke - and twins with a headstrong and stubborn 2 year old can be pure, maddening hell sometimes. I love my kids more than life itself and I would fall on the sword a million times for them but they are a lot of hard hard work. Thank God they are cute right?

Reflecting back on their first year I remember bringing them into this world, I can remember very specific conversations, the way certain moments felt - I can actually replay them in my mind and often do. The babies' birth was far easier than Casey's - sounds crazy right? Especially since Max was a footling breech birth - but leaps and bounds easier - no doubt! I remember just thinking that i needed to pinch myself because this couldn't be real life. Were there 2 sweet, squishy babies mine? To take home and love and cuddle - forever. As weird as it sounds I feel that way often still. I will be in the kitchen watching all of the kiddos playing together and I think holy smokes - they are mine. And immediately I have flash forwards of crazy Christmas mornings, baseball games, graduations, weddings, and a big long table filled with many people all there because of Chris and I.

So I love parties and love planning them - it's a little crazy. Initially I was going to go with a Tutus and Choo Choos theme - but I had my heart set on pink and gold for Mia's part of the party and I could find plenty of decorations for her part but I just couldn't figure out how to make them mesh with the choo choo part so the OCD planner in me abandoned that theme and decided on a Wild Ones theme. I have a silhouette cameo and you would think that I would be able to make all sorts of decorations and amazing things but in reality I suck at it - I have no clue how to use it so if you know and want to come over and help teach me - I will pay you in wine and snacks! So I ordered a lot of stuff from etsy - thank God for etsy right?!? I did make some of the banners and such and was pretty proud of myself.

I used a pinkish/coral and gold for the girly part of the party and a teal and gold for Max's part. I kept it simple and just focused mainly on the colors. I got the cakes from an amazing local Mom - Kristy Haywood. Seriously - she's amazing. Her cakes are not only delicious but gorgeous so if you are local to the Downer's area and need cake, cookies, cupcakes - you name it - she's your girl!

We had about 50 people and I had all of the food catered from Mariano's - easy peasy! Last year I made all the food for Ceej's 2nd birthday and it was just too much. Buying it all was not only cost effective but much less work and way less stress! They had such a perfect day, they got more gifts than I could have ever imagined, and were totally exhausted after all was said and done. Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate our sweet miracles, for all of the gifts and more importantly for loving our sweet babies just as much as we do!

A few of the things I actually made myself! The high chair banners were super easy to make and so much cheaper than ordering!

Gotta love etsy!

I found these wooden slabs for cheap at Wal Mart and ended up using them for their smash cakes for both the party and our pictures!

I ordered some of those huge confetti filled standing balloons with tassel strings. Adorable right? Yes - super cute. However they are ridiculously expensive and HUGE when they are blown up, Thank God one popped when the balloon shop was filling them because no way would we have been able to get it home!

Why am I obsessed with balloons? Jeanna would be proud! I have the same picture from Ceej's first birthday!

Little gift bags that I whipped up. I did these tags just using the computer, found the tags themselves on clearance at target and used a small piece of washi tape on the end to add some flair!

Seriously Kristy is amazing!!! And they are so so deelish!

Mia wasted ZERO time digging in to the cake - she went to town!

Max on the other hand was very dainty taking little licks here and there.

So, many, presents!
