Casey's first week!

So I'm a bit late as Casey is actually almost 2 weeks old but just as with the bump dates I might be a little behind! I plan to only do weeks until we hit one month - then I'll do monthly updates!

Can I just tell you how much this little man has completely stolen our hearts in such a short time. Wow. I just stare at him and cannot believe we made something so precious and perfect. He really is so amazing. He looks just like daddy - especially when he has his eyes open but has momma's fiery personality through and through no doubt he will give us a run for our money!

Grumpy Casey!

The first week of CJ's life we had lots of visitors, got many sweet cards and packages and tons of delicious food! He totally steals hearts right and left. We also camp out on the sofa in the living room as a family of 6 now primarily because it's easier but it's so much fun - it's like a slumber party every night! He loved the swaddle and slept well in the hospital - when we brought him home not so much. He now hates the swaddle - kicks out of it every single time and wouldn't sleep anywhere but momma's chest - until we found the rock n play - game changer! He loves it - well love might be a strong word - he tolerates it enough for mommy to get about an hour of sleep every couple of hours.

He's also so far (knock on wood) a great breastfeeder! When he first came out he didn't want to latch but we have him a little time and before you knew it he was rooting (or baby birding as we call it) for momma's liquid gold! Now he's a champ and particularly good at cluster feeding - good for CJ bad for mommy. But I seriously would do anything for this little boy so I don't mind one bit.

Daddy and I have worked out a good nighttime routine - when CJ stirs daddy grabs him and changes his dipey while momma pees. Daddy goes back to sleep and momma nurses him and then puts him back down. It seems to be working well but daddy is going to go back to work on Wednesday so we will see how it goes.

I'm so nervous for Chris to head back to work - I have absolutely loved and cherished every single second we've had together as a family these last two weeks and only wish we could be together all day everyday. Sigh...a girl can dream right? Here's some of my favorite snapshots from week 1!

So that's about it for Casey's first week - he has lots of nicknames already - the three most common being monkey, ceej (pronounced like "siege") and milk face. :) he's more awake and alert everyday and as happy as it makes me I cry at least once a day because I want him to stay little and I know he's growing so fast already and the time is flying too quickly. Daddy reminds me we have so many fun firsts and things to look forward to - but still I would love to keep him small. But since that can't happen you can bet I will cuddle this little man as much as humanly possible, love him with all my heart, protect him and keep him safe, and be sure that he has every opportunity to be everything he wants to be.

I hope you have a blessed and Happy Easter - lots of love to you and yours!

XOXO
