Been a while...
It's been a while since I checked it! Eek! So lots has changed since then. So where do I begin??
Sleep - OMG - sweet, sweet sleep. The sleep consultant literally changed. our. lives. I know that sounds dramatic but she honestly gave us our lives back. Ceej was waking about every 90 minutes - up for the day anywhere between 3-4:30 and barely napping. We were at the end of our rope, totally exhausted and didn't know what to do. 4 days into sleep training he was sleeping 12+ hours a night - no joke. Now - 3 weeks later - he sleeps anywhere between 12-13 hours a night and naps 3-4 hours during the day. It's insane and has been a total game changer for us. We are happier, he is happier, we have some mom and dad time now as Ceej goes to be no later than 7, our house is spotless and I actually feel like as a mom I have a rhythm down and actually know what I'm doing.
We also went from refusing to sleep anywhere but the rock n play or the swing to the magic merlin sleep suit to now him preferring his crib! It's seriously been amazing and I am so so thankful for the help of Janeen - our sleep consultant. We were literally at our wits end questioning if we could or ever wanted to do it again. We love being parents and we love Ceej more than life itself - but we were questioning if we could go through the newborn baby stage again. Now I can confidently say bring it on. It's not been easy - from nursing, to belly issues, no sleep - everything - but now I realize that we can do it and I feel like I get more confident as a mom every day.
Another game changer for us? The car seat. We had a Chicco KeyFit30 infant bucket seat. Ceej literally hated it. I know I have mentioned before but I would make a 6 mile round trip walk to target just so I didn't have to put him in the car - he hated it that bad. He would scream and cry and be hysterical every single time we were in the car. We upgraded to hi convertible car seat - the Britax Boulevard Click Tight - he LOVES the car now. Never makes one peep. It's so amazing and liberating. Now we take drives for the hell of it!!
In other Ceej news he is getting bigger by the day! He seriously amazes me everyday! I think him sleeping in his crib has been huge for his development. He's so much more mobile now that he doesn't spend the majority of his life in that rock n play or sleep suit. He barrel rolls across the floor and I'm guessing will be crawling within the next few weeks. He also fed himself his baba for the first time yesterday. Hasn't done it since but it's a start! And he's also started selectively waving! Auntie Riri got the first wave and then grandma and Mamps got the second. He has such a sweet and loving personality - seriously brings a smile to everyone's face!
In other very big news I will be consulting for my old company beginning next week! Now that Ceej is such a great sleeper and napper I have a little more time in my day (keep it up big boy) and actually am looking forward to keeping my skills fresh in my profession so that when he goes to school I won't be too far behind the curve! I will be doing about 10 hours a week - mostly from home. I would love to be able to go into the office once a week but in our current situation that's just not possible so I'm shooting for every other week for a few hours. As much as I love my little nugget I miss the adult interaction that working brings. So hopefully this works out well - will be very nice to have a little extra moolah for the holiday season!
So that's the current state of the union in our household - enjoying every single second with my little peanut and wishing that time would slow down just a little bit :)
XOXO
